For each document type or form created in Athento, it is possible to define one or several Lifecycles.
A lifecycle is a set of stages that a document or form goes through.
For example, an invoice may pass through the following stages:
- Received
- Accepted
- Paid
1. Create a lifecycle
Lifecycles are managed from the forms administration menu.
Click on the form you want to add a lifecycle to.
Within the form administration, go to the lifecycle tab.
Click on the “Add Lifecycle” button.
Next, give the lifecycle a name.
Once created, you will be able to access it by clicking on its name.
2. Create lifecycle states
Once a lifecycle is created, the next step is to add the stages of the lifecycle that we want documents of a certain type to pass through.
3. Add transitions between states
Once you create all the lifecycle stages, you must indicate how users can move a document form one stage to another. To do so, there are lifecycle transitions.

4. Activate a lifecycle
Once the stages and transitions are created, you must activate the cycle to be able to use it.
5. View a lifecycle
You can view the lifecycle from any document that belongs to that document type.
