Unique document identifiers

In Athento, documents have unique internal identifiers that uniquely identify the document. This identifier can be found in the document's URL. 

It is also possible to define auto-incremental numbers as metadata within documents that are much more user-friendly for unambiguous document identification. How to add a field of type auto incremental or consecutive?
