You have probably noticed that your plan contains a limited number of Automation Units. In this article we explain what they are, how they are counted and how you can purchase more Automation Units.
What is an Automation Unit?
Basically, an Automation Unit is the execution of an automation or operation in Athento. These automatisms can be executed in different ways:
- in the processing of documents in the spaces
- in life cycle state changes
- in fields
- in queues or trays
- as commands or scheduled tasks
For example, running an operation to generate a document consumes an automation unit or running an operation on a document to generate a PDF version with a watermark also consumes an automation unit. Any execution of an operation that you install from the automation library will consume automation units.
Why is there a limit to the number of automations I can run?
Automation Units are included at no additional cost in all Athento plans, but have monthly limits or consumption quotas.
Automation Units are shared by all users and teams of the contracted plan and vary according to the plan.
Most Athento customers do not exceed the Automation Units quotas included in their plan. However, to protect our systems and avoid overloading Athento's resources, we apply these limits. The execution of automations have a direct relationship with the consumption of infrastructure resources and service levels.
Athento reserves the right to modify the automation quotas of its plans.
What happens if we exceed the automation quota?
In case you exceed the quota of Automation Units included in your plan, you have two options:
- Upgrade to a higher plan that includes a higher automation quota.
- Contract a package of Automation Units. In this case, the base plan does not change but you add a package of automation units to cover the consumption when the quota is exceeded. This second option is more convenient if you are not going to exceed the rest of the plan limits.
Other limits and consumption
You should bear in mind that some automation or operations may incur additional costs in addition to consuming Automation Units, especially in the case of operations that consume external services. Some examples of operations that involve additional costs are:
- OCR extraction
- Registration of documents in Blockchain
- Electronic signature
- Massive sending of Emails or SMSs
- Integration with Whatsapp
- among others.
