This operation can be useful when the documents are received on paper, but a digital record is created in Athento at the moment of reception. In these cases, a barcode 128 generated with Athento can be pasted on the physical document, so that once digitised, Athento can link the digital copy with the record that was created at the time of receipt of the physical one.
The barcode to be pasted on the paper document will contain a key value that is stored as a field in the digital record.
Once the hard copy is digitised, Athento can read the barcode, extract the key stored in it and search the system for a document that contains that key in its fields.

Install and configure the operation that allows you to link the register with the digital copy.
In the space where you are going to receive the digitised copies, you must install the operation:
op_physical_digital_linkage_bar_code
To configure this operation you will have to edit the parameters explained below.
Select the link action
The action to be taken when the document with the scanned code is found must be configured. There are 3 possible actions:
- Replace the document: The file with the barcode will replace the document file containing the code in the indicated field.
- Add to end: The file with the barcode will be added to the end of the file with the code in the indicated field.
- Add as related: The document containing the file with the barcode will be added as related to the document containing the code in the indicated field.
Select the field with the code
Now you have to select in which field of the digital record the key is stored that will allow you to link it with the scanned copy.
Select the form
Select the form to which the digital record belongs.
Once these steps have been completed, the operation configuration for linking the barcode to a document is ready.
Execute the operation and test
You can run the operation from any of the scanned documents containing the barcode.
